Rough black Obsidian from Mexico. Obsidian is an organically created glass, formed through felsic lava that rapidly cools after exploding past the earth’s crust. It exhibits conchoidal fracturing and is a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale. Typical Obsidian is a semi-translucent black that can have slight tints of green or brown.
